2013 Bullard High School Boys and Girls Little Knights Basketball League. Come sign your son or daughter up for the annual LIttle Knights Basketball League. This league is open to boys and girls in grades K-8. SIgn ups will be on Sat. November 3rd and 10th from 2pm - 4pm in the court house at Bullard High. Sat. and Sun. Feb. 2-3, the Sun Maid Kennel Club will hold AKC all-breed dog shows as well as obedience and rally trials. Held at the Fresno County Fairgrounds; free admission. With over 500 dogs in attendance, there will be vendors with products for dogs and their people. Each day there will be a 4 mo. to 6 mo. Puppy competition. The Vineyard Farmer’s Market has invited some of its Market Chefs to “Throwdown” in a head to head competition of culinary skill. This year’s competitors are Cracked Pepper Bistro’s Vatche Moukhtarian, Michael Shackleford of Trelio, Sequoia Brewing Company, Keith Smith of Keith’s Box Car Café and a collective of food enthusiast’s at TasteFresno headed up by Louisiana native James Collier. For $10 attendees receive a ticket/ballot good for one 4 oz. sample of gumbo per booth.

The Fresno Fuego and Cesar Javier Vega Perrone of the Mexican Futbol Federation will be hosting a player skills clinic for youth boys born between 1999 and 2002. The cost is $40 per player.
Vega has coached two U17 soccer teams to World Cup Championships: Peru (2005) and Mexico (2011). The native of Uruguay also represented his home country in the 1986 FIFA World Cup.

Madera County Office of Education will host the 31st annual Academic Decathlon. This year’s topic is Russia. The Super Quiz will be followed by a reception and awards ceremony. High school students will take tests in the areas of art, economics, literature, mathematics, music, science and social science. Subjective events include essay, interview and speech.
