Keeping alive the tradition of documenting local landscapes through painting on location, the San Joaquin Plein Aire Painters are presenting their work at Studio 74, February 7-23. Featured artists are Sandy Kowallis, Nancy Kemmer, Marilyn Torchin, Jocelyne Starkey, Maxine Fargason and Hallie Grant.
Opening with an Art Hop reception on Thursday, February 7, from 5-9 pm, Art Hop is an opportunity to meet the artists, discuss and purchase their work! The Gallery is open Monday-Saturday 1-6pm.

Jazz pianist and educator Jay Smith will give a presentation titled “Improvisation in the 21st century.” The presentation with questions and answers will explore how jazz has changed from the time of it's inception to our current day and how certain factors have changed how we deal with improvisatory playing. The presentation will include live performance by Jay Smith-piano/synth/keys; Patrick Contreras-electric violin; Ray Moore-drums; Jay Jay Hicks-8 string bass.
The San Joaquin Valley Rose Society holds its monthly meeting on the 3rd Tuesday of every month. The next meeting is on Feb. 19, 2013. A speaker from Star Roses will be showing new rose introductions. Everyone is welcome
