ELIGIBILITY: The Fresno Bee's "Put a Face on Famous!" Contest ("Contest" is open to individuals who are U.S. residents. Contestants must be 18 or older. This Contest is sponsored by The Fresno Bee, 1626 E Street, Fresno, CA 93786 ("Sponsor"). Employees of The Fresno Bee, The McClatchy Company, or their subsidiaries and affiliates, and their immediate families, are not eligible to enter.

DATES OF PROMOTION (pacific daylight time). The Contest begins at 12:01am on June 29 and ends at 11:59pm on Aug. 26 (the "Submission Period").

HOW TO ENTER: Download the Photoshop skeleton file located here or take a screen grab from Famous and redesign the header and logo. Once you have completed your redesign of the header and logo ("Submission"), email it as an attachment, along with your first and last name, daytime phone number (including area code), and email address, to jtehee@fresnobee.com. Please, no zip files. Submissions that do not include all requested information may not be considered. Submissions will not be acknowledged or returned and Sponsor is not responsible for any attachments that are not received.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: Your "Submission" may be as creative as you like, but it must be an original work of authorship created in its entirety by the contestant who submits it. Your Submission should meet the standards of good taste, and will be prescreened by Sponsor, whose decisions are final.

JUDGING CRITERIA: The judging will take place in three rounds:

Round One: Judging will begin by a panel of qualified judges of Sponsor on or about August 27. Initial Submissions will be judged on a 100-point scale as follows:
- Drawing (30 points)
- Creativity (15 points)
- Relevancy to Website Subject Matter (35 points)
- Overall Commercial Impression (20 points).

A minimum of 10 semi-finalists and a maximum of 20 semi-finalists will move to the next round ("Semi-Finalists").

All Finalists will be posted on the fresnofamous Web site for public viewing and voting (only one vote per natural person). Public voting will occur on or about Sept. 14, 2007 and end on or about Sept. 28, 2007. The top three vote-getters will move on to the final round ("Finalists").
Final Round: Sponsor's panel of judges will select the winner from among the public voting top vote getters, using the same criteria used in the first round. The Finalist with the highest overall score will be deemed the Winner ("Selected Contestant").

PRIZE: Selected Contestant shall receive the following:
- $200
- Artist credit for the creation of the design on the fresnofamous.com homepage
- A new Fresno Famous hoodie, T-shirt, and one of any other promotional items Sponsor may create.

No prize substitution is allowed except at the discretion of Sponsor. If prize cannot be awarded due to circumstances beyond the control of Sponsor, a substitute prize of equal or greater retail value may be awarded. Prizes will be awarded, subject to the limitations stated in these official rules.

COPYRIGHT STATEMENT: In order to claim prize, Selected Contestant must fully execute a copyright assignment, assigning all right, title and interest in and to the Submission to McClatchy Management Services, Inc., or its designee ("Assignment"). Failure by Selected Contestant to execute the Assignment shall result in disqualification and the Submission with the next highest number of points shall be deemed the new Selected Contestant until a winner can be declared.

OTHER CONDITIONS. Selected Contestant may be asked to execute a declaration of liability/publicity release in order to claim prize. Contest is subject to these Official Rules. By participating, Contestants agree: (i) to be bound by these complete Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor which shall be final and binding; and (ii) to waive any right to claim ambiguity in the Contest or these Official Rules, except where prohibited by law. By accepting a prize, Selected Contestant agrees to release Sponsor, including its parent, subsidiary and affiliated entities together with the respective directors, employees, officers, licensees, licensors and agents, and respective advertising and promotion entities and any person or entity associated with the production, judging, or administration of the Contest, (collectively, the "Releases") from any and all liability, loss or damage arising from or in connection with awarding, receipt and/or use or misuse of prize or participation in any prize-related activities. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or suspend the Contest, in its sole discretion, should it receive fewer than 5 entries, or receive no entries that have a judged score in the First Round above 85 points, or due to circumstances beyond its control, including natural disasters. Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, cancel, modify or suspend the Contest should a virus, bug, computer problem, unauthorized intervention or other causes beyond Sponsor's control, corrupt the administration, security or proper play of the Contest. Sponsor may prohibit an Contestant from participating in the Contest or winning a prize if, in its sole discretion, it determines such Contestant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest by cheating, plagiarizing, engaging in any deception, or any other unfair playing practices of intending to annoy, abuse, threaten, undermine or harass any other players or Sponsor representatives. Artist credit placement, including size and location, is in the sole discretion of Sponsor. Disputes regarding these Official Rules and/or this Contest will be governed by the internal laws of the State of California.

PUBLICITY. Sponsor reserves the right to use all the Submissions to the Contest for publicity purposes prior to or after the Contest end date, in any media, and to use the name, likeness, hometown name, of any Selected Contestant, for publicity purposes throughout the world, without any compensation or prior review unless specifically prohibited by law. Taxes relating to Prize are the sole responsibility of Selected Contestant, and Contestants may be issued an IRS Form 1099 for the ARV (or relevant portion thereof) of any awarded prize. This Contest is void outside the U.S. and where prohibited or restricted by law, and subject to applicable federal, state provincial and local laws. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any Contestant it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or violating these Official Rules.
