The City of Fresno is exploring the possibility of a dramatic new water feature for the downtown, a ‘linear fountain’ that would help to revitalize the Fulton Mall, connect the City’s important new redevelopment projects, and generally reinvigorate the heart of the community. The planning and design of this downtown water feature will be an exciting challenge and opportunity. The ‘linear fountain’ will need to satisfy a number of important criteria: it will need to be interactive and fun; attractive to kids and families; accommodating of existing conditions on the Fulton Mall; cost effective; and environmentally friendly. It should celebrate the role of water in Fresno’s history and deepen the community’s appreciation of Fresno’s unique culture and setting. But, most of all, a new downtown water feature should bring people back to the center to rediscover the heart of the City! Interested? Come hear about the project and give us your ideas, thoughts, concerns.

I'm totally anti-car and pro-downtown, BUT...
...for God's sake, tear out the poorly-planned, old-fashioned, business-killing, blight-causing, poverty-concentrating Fulton Mall and put a two-way street back in there!
Sad to say that the people who built it were just hopelessly naive---and way too ahead of their time---in believing that a 1960's Fresno was ready for pedestrian-based living. Sure, it might have a remote possibility for success in the year 2050, but not now and not then! Fresnans like their cars and until Fresno's downtown and mass transit catches up with such thinking, the Fulton Mall is complete waste of precious resources and actually acts as a hindrance to any downtown revitalization.
Tearing it out has been an idea floated for some time now, but I haven't heard of anything like it lately.
Anyone have the latest? Or perhaps it's time to galvanize a movement by calling city hall and writing letters to the editor of the Bee and get things moving!
A Fulton Street could be the beginning of the very urban way of life proponents of revitalization have been promoting for years!
Interesting. I heard a rumor that another developer (from the Valley) recently picked up the Horse.
MMMH!
How are you so certain?
And for the record Donald Trump never left Fresno
Word is he is waiting to grab the remains of the "Dead Horse" or another major chunk of Fresno.
Downtown is turning around.
It's a slow turn ready to pick up the speed and Trump wants in on it.
The time is coming soon!
You heard it here first New Casino Coming Downtown
Word around the street is Chukchansi has been privatly working with the City to build a casino Downtown behind the stadium, It was a key part of the deal where they agreed to pay rent to have the Chukchansi name on the stadium.
The stadium didn't need parking lots behind it.
The poweres that be wanted the land so in time the casino could be built.
The Palce and Table Mountain might as well shut the doors. Who needs a bus to your casino when people will be able to ride FAX to one Downtown.
Mr and Mrs Long at Club One.
Kiss your card table permits Buh-Bye.
Ya strong armed your way into owning all the card table permits but now theres a bigger shark Downtown.
Like it or not you won't be able to stop them.

"new water feature for the downtown, a ‘linear fountain’ that would help to revitalize the Fulton Mall"
the old water features never did that why do they expect a new one to, if anything the should just fix all the original water fountains, like the one in front of the Bank of Italy Building.
