Laissez le bon temp roulet!
It's Mardi Gras time in the Tower, and that means Glen Delpit and the Subterraneans are playing at the Oly(nee Club Fred). Yes, this Sunday after the 11th annual Tower Mardi Gras Parade The Subterraneans will play their annual "after parade" show and proceed to burn down the house(in the name of Professor Longhair) at the aforementioned Olympic Tavern. The Subterraneans will bring their bluesy, hypnotic, highly danceable, literate and original American Roots Music to the stage and you are guaranteed another incendiary performance or your money back(this is electric music for the mind and body). Bring your beads, a little laginappe`, your dancin' shoes and some friends and get in line for another Subterranean Dance Party. This is absolutely the most fun you can have with your clothes on(guaranteed). it's Mardi Gras Time and you don't want to miss the louche and ever liquid, Gumbo the Hobo in his Mardi Gras Indian best, do the cissy strut and the Mardi Gras Mambo as he leads you across the dance floor in the second line, all the while shouting "Mighty Kootie Fiyo on De Bayou", or his profligate cohort "Big Chief"(by default),"Pants" Rowland and his personal "Spy Boy" Van Lingle Mungo of the Wild Tchoupitoulas, as they call out, "Jockomo Fee Nah Nay" to the nearest Flag Boy (BTW- if you hear any of them shout out you are entitled to a free beverage of your choice-iko,iko). Put down that remote, get in the second line and sashay on down to the Oly this Sunday Feb. 3rd after the parade. You won't regret it. The party starts at 2 and ends somewhere in the neighborhood.
