Note to self: explain private messaging in the faq...

Sorry for the confusion!
Private messages are not to be confused with emails or instant messages. An email goes out once a day alerting you if you have unread messages in your inbox. We offer this as a way for Famous members to communicate privately while while keeping email addresses hidden from the world.
