I tried to post my first blog yesterday, but it "timed out" on me. I really have a lot to say, but most of it will happen next year. My professional focus for the new year is going to be to define the characteristics that make up an authentic community. I'm working on some definitions and some strategies that could be a useful tool for cities/neighborhoods who would like to move through a process of self-improvement.
What are your thoughts? I often find that there are strong similarities between the characteristics of people and cities. So, what are the characteristics of an authentic person, and do they also apply to communities?
I'll share my thoughts and experiences on this subject over time, but look forward to reading some of your thoughts (unbiased by mine). If you submit something original I'll give you credit on future blogs or web pages. How's that?
Community
That is an interesting word since it can be used so many different ways. Is that the noun, adverb, adjective, or just metaphorically speaking? To me it is a part of the foundation of who someone(s) truly are. The culture or even sub-culture of a community, community within a community, what are you looking for Craig? BTW, this is something a lot of diverse people are taking a serious look at.
