Fav Restaurant = Pho Paradise
My favorite restaurant in Fresno right now is Pho Paradise a little north of First and Mckinley (on First). You can get a large bowl of pho (a vietnamese beef broth and rice noodle soup) with an iced coffee for under 8 bucks. It's usually pretty quiet around lunch time but then starts to fill up in the early evening. They're open until 10pm as well!
As well as pho, which is pronounced "fuh" for the record, they have a huge menu with all sorts of sandwiches, rice dishes, appetizers, plus more. There are plenty of vegetarian friendly items, and they serve boba teas.
[Update: I've since tried a lot of the other local pho-serving establishments that have been recommended in this thread and elsewhere, and my favorites are now May Cafe, Pho #1, and Pho Hung (especially if you like garlic).]

Paradise!
Pho Paradise has the best Beef broth. I think it's better than Pho 99, Pho 90, Pho 75#2 and especially Pho 76. And their customer service is excellent.
I went to Pho 76 tonight and their customer service was terrible. (Ofcourse I did NOT get pho there, the Ko Pun isn't bad)
Anyhow, I recommend Pho Paradise.
Pho is all about preference and taste. It just depends on what you like and how you like, the flavors you like. I personally like Pho 99 on McKinley and First.
Pho 76
Tried Pho 76 and loved it! The broth is still not up to par with May Cafe, only because I thought it was a little salty, but it is definitely better than Pho Paradise. I tried the #1 Pho Special, I believe and it was a good sized bowl with a combination of beef and seafood. Quick, friendly service.
What the Pho...
A colleague at my previous employer got me hooked on Pho. May Cafe definitely has the best tasting broth before I start with the add-in's (red rooster hot sauce, oyster sauce, hot oil, soy sauce, sugar, etc...)
Paradise definitely has one of the biggest bowls though for the hearty appetite. 00 (double zero) is the one for me. =)
I have tried Pho 99 (across the street from May Cafe) and found it to be a distant third from May and Paradise.
@ Natalie
I will try Pho 76 though and report back on here with my findings.
Pho Paradise
Hey, I just wanted to add a comment. I was searching for Nutrition Facts on Pho and somehow ended up here. I used to eat at Pho Paradise all the time....that is until I found Pho 76. My husband and I are like Pho addicts. We seriously crave it WAY too much. Well, one day we were over on McKinley and Chestnut and we were craving it, so we stopped in to Pho 76. Talk about some GOOD pho! I hated to betray Pho Paradise because we had been going there so long, but in both of our opinions, Pho 76 was WAY better.
Anyhow, just thought I'd add that in case you've never tried it. We really liked it. And the environment is quite neat as well. There is a big screen t.v. and it plays Vietnamese Karaoke. It's cute. We're now regulars to Pho 76 and I must say that it is so scrumptious. Had it for lunch today as a matter of fact!
Anyhow, if you haven't tried it, at least give it a shot. You'll be surprised. =)
Pho Paradise
They're sweethearts to me. They remember my favorite order when I come in and the prices are consistent.
That totally blows that you got that sort of service though. I should probably turn on email notification, because I just saw that you responded.
used to go there
Until we noticed our service was different compared to some other people that came in, then we noticed that the prices were not constant, and we were over charged, No Big Deal, there are so many other Vietnamese restaurants that not one is the best or that much better than the other ones. If you like that place try 'May's Cafe', and the 'Tulare Noodle House'.
