File under: can't make this stuff up. Fresno transportation manager Robert Madewell has been placed on leave as the city investigates accusations that he used taxpayer money to pay for sexual favors. From ABC 30:
This week, he was placed on paid administrative leave while the city attorney's office investigates a complaint of inappropriate behavior involving a 21-year-old temporary worker who claims Madewell took her to a downtown garage."The allegation is that while at the garage, while alone, he coerced her into exposing herself and fondled her in a very inappropriate fashion," said Alex Correa, from the Fresno City Employees' Association.
Madewell apparently missed the "How to Appropriately Fondle Subordinates" seminar. We'll never put money in the meter the same way again.

Economic indicator.
Let's break this down. Dirt removal should pay about $80 for a days work; it's not exactly a high skill task. That means this temporary worker was paid an additional $220 for "inappropriate fondling". I haven't been in the market for "inappropriate fondling" for quite some time but that seems outrageously expensive.
I'm not sure that "inappropriate fondling" will make the list of leading economic indicators any time soon but Fresno's economy must be thriving.
