my Downtown idea
My Idea for the South of Stadium project, is to push more entertainment and arts, you have the sports, but do we really have the entertainment? the Art's are there with the Mono and Van Ness Galleries and nearby are the Thrift shops, and Retro Vintage, Yoshi Now Flea Market, after seeing a documentary on PBS called "A Flea Market Documentary". There are Flea markets that have grown bigger and bigger if done right. I think if the Arts and a Flea market were combined that it would draw people if there was a seasonal meet, and some year around shops. Before UC Merced was built there was something I saw on TV about how the local Arts are what makes city's really different, I mean how many other River Park's like area's have you see in other suburbia's? I've seen a few along the freeways and they are anchored by a Edwards or other large theater chains or your typical strip mall shops.
The other idea for the entertainment is to bring some national entertainment franchises (forget Bass Pro). I'd like to see a House of Blues using the old Liberty theater or maybe the Crest. If they tear out old buildings I would not mind it if a Hard Rock Cafe was built near 41 and 99 on Venture, with a large lighted sign that could be seen from the freeways, I've looked in to some of this I costs $3 Million to $5 Million to build a Hard Rock Cafe and the 41 and 99 freeways in that location get up to 100,000 cars passing by a day according to Cal-Trans Annual Average Daily Traffic that's just as many as some other Hard Rock Cafes get. Hard Rock Cafe is not just a restaurant but it's got real Rock 'n' Roll memorabilia like a Museum.
