There's something very simple that everyone can do to make the city better. Report any grafitti you find to the city, and they will quickly come out and clean it up. You can even do it online...

There is no excuse to tolerate grafitti and nothing drives property values down like some unwanted spray paint on a fence.
What gets me is how some people ignore it and allow grafitti to remain. Don't you have any pride in your neighborhood? Get off you ass, and if you're not going to paint it yourself, at least call the city. You pay for it anyway.

If you see where the mutts live report them.
You can report house where taggers, bullmutts, and druggies live to crime stoppers.
498-STOP
A lot of houses are rentals.
Go to the Hall of Records and get the name of the owner and the owners address.
Send the owner a letter about the tenants.
Inform the owner the property has been reported to to police and the City and that the neighbors have asked the City to confiscate the porperty if the crime problem continues.
You can also put up flood lights with motion dectectors to cut down criminal activity.
If there is one house thats a major problem make sure everyone living around it knows.
Once word is out and they know everyone in the neighborhood is watching them they will move.
Very Prompt
In my experience, the Graffiti Team responds very quickly. They even will provide you with a graffiti bucket complete with solution, wash cloth and gloves to handle the smaller tags. Works very well!
The quicker the tags are removed the less likely it will reoccur. The graffiti has slowed down in my neighborhood with the Graffiti teams and other neighbors besides myself who have tackled the problem. It would be nice if people called or cleaned their own area at least...
