Monorail in Fresno

A City in S. Korea is putting in an 18 mile monorail system that will cost about $72 million USD (less than $4mil a mile). That is only $12 million more than Autry's proposed River Walk. With that much money and track, basically 2 tracks could be built. One track from downtown to River Park, and the other track from downtown to FYI. A few more million and it could continue up the 168 after FYI and into Clovis. RCI demand in DT and the rest of area would skyrocket.

This would need to be privately financed though. Maybe Forest City or Trump? With help from the city on top of that.

I quickly drew up these designs of a monorail system that could be built with ease and efficiency on our freeway shoulders. No demolition of overpasses or lane taking would be necessary. These are based off of Disney World's and Dubai's dual-lane elevated guideways. These are basic designs, lack any architecture, and could easily be engineered better, but you can get the main idea.

With stations.

Disney World's rail. The pillars are only a few feet wide. Very effecient on space.

taxi 2000

this web site http://www.taxi2000.com used to have some concept images of a monorail in front of city hall and one in front of the baseball stadium, but I can't find them on their site anymore.

this image is still out there...
