Snow chains/cables? Where can you get them?

With the snow starting to melt up in the Sequoias, it's a nice time to take a trip up there, but it can get icy with all the runoff- who knows where you can get chains? I called a few tire places and got a big "huh?".

Chains are a very seasonal item, in my experience. Stores tend to ship them back to their central warehouse after New Year's, it seems. I was able to find chains at a Napa store in February a couple of years ago, but they were about the only place that had 'em. You may have to go the online route this time of year. Or maybe try some service stations in a town in the foothills. Good luck!
