May 10, 2008 starting at 2pm my road will be blocked off to hold a block party. The "Evening of Music" is a metaphor for my road, my neighbors and folks all over Fresno. It is to honour the rebirth of my road, and the return of civic mindedness to the neighborhood. It is to spread the word that ordinary folks doing extraordinary things can achieve the running off of drug dealers, stop the sale of "poison", report gangs, graffiti and slumlords that rob my road and your road of "quality of life".
There will be Fresno High School Jazz Band, chamber music, Mariachi Band and the evening will close to the music played by the brilliant Sunnyside High School Band. Bring your lawn chair, pack a basket of food and come out and meet your neighbors, honour the brave men and women of the Armed Forces walking the road.
