Downtown Mayoral Fourm: A sort-of review
There was a good turnout for last night's mayoral forum, where the candidates (all but two of them, yes?)took on questions about how they will deal with downtown issues: from traffic on the Fulton Mall, to housing and the use of emminant domain on the dead-beat owners of run-down buildings.
I was only able to stay through the inital introduction and the first few questions, so I can't give an in-depth analysis, but right off, I'd say, I've narrowed it down. And it probably won't include our Famous Choice winner. That's not knocking him.
They all seemed to have ideas about what is right and wrong for downtown, but can any of them take it to that next level?
Please chime in: Who impressed you and why? What did you think of them sitting Henry T. and Ashley Swearengin up high and center?
There a buncg more info here.

Would somebody tell me where I can find La Cucalicious Club Kid
I heard he was running for Mayor I have a message from Vickey
No, pressure
You and your laptop have done a mighty fine job to give "us" (the people of this community) a voice. Now, the political ball is in their court and only they can step up and hit a community home run.
The question is, will the people of Fresno lose this game?
In terms of help, what are you needing help with and how can we support your efforts?
hmm...maybe I set the bar too high
Thanks for all the kind words (at the moment "those people" is just me and my laptop). Now I suppose the pressure's on to keep covering the forums...or to at least update the Twitter feed every once in a while.
[insert plea for help]The goal with Future of Fresno is to inform the election process by pulling in news from Famous, the Bee, and everywhere else (I am not, nor do I want to be, a reporter of any sorts), and show how some of the new web technologies could be used here locally (Twitter being a great example). If anyone wants to "join the fun" by adding to the dialogue, let me know (james@futureoffresno.com), and I'll add whatever features/tools are needed to the site.[/end plea]
dang!
that future of fresno link is great stuff. well done to those people.
Thanks for the work on covering this event.
Wish I was there last night. I was however, able to follow the twitter feed. Future of Fresno, you did an "AAAAAAWESOME" job. Just wish more people would join the fun. Hint, Hint to everyone, join twitter and follow Future of Fresno feed. Click here to see the power of twitter.
Hint, hint to all the candidates, join twitter and let us know why we should vote for you!
Full recap
Can't say anyone moved up in my mind, but some people dropped off as legitimate contenders. I took play-by-play notes as a live-blog: http://futureoffresno.com/updates/live_candidate_forum.
That makes sense!
Thanks for the clear-up.
It Appeared to Be in Alphabetical Order
The candidates were in alphabetical order from what learning I was taught. The 1st table ran Boyajian to Eben. The 2nd table went Garibay to Vagim.
Downtown Mayoral Fourm audio
If you missed the forum, we have the audio posted as an MP3 file for download at KFSR.org. We'll also do the same with next week's city council candidates forum.
