In July of 2005, Tolliver "Tolley" Brown of Peoria Illinois, created a feed-back loop between two cell phones causing them to explode. The only injury was a temporary loss of hearing for Mr. Brown.

Economic stimulus --- How are YOU going to spend it?

The "Economic Stimulus Packages" are being sent out this week (for people with electronic deposits---paper checks go out next week). I was wondering what Fresno Famous readers plan to do with their "refunds" (which--if it's like the refund we got about 5 or 6 years ago--we'll be taxed on next year).

I know that Bush and his administration mean this package to boost the economy. However, while I might buy something special at the grocery store or possibly treat myself out to a lunch or two more than normal, the bulk of that moeny is going straight to bills. Despite this bonus to my monthly income, I can NOT afford to spend it on anything else. It's earmarked for a house payment...and if it gets here in the next day or two, I can fill up my gas tank!

What will YOU do with the money? I'm just curious...

The money isn't going to China nor the Middle East, it goes to the retailers who sell the products. I wish I could buy straight from the sweat shops, I'd save a ton of money!

spend it all

Americans are going to give (spend) the money to China or the Middle East... in other words by buying Made in China products or Gasoline.
To bad the stimulus was not given in food vouchers then more of the money would have gone to items still made in the USA.

check the 'Made In...' Labels on the stuff you buy.

the best bet is to try to spend the money locally if you can.

Getting Laid Sounds Good.

I'll research Craigslist or Myredbook and drop my $1500 on some action.

I'll be safe and stop off at that Circle K and get my Glove, and buy the Homies some beer!

Got to look out for the homeless in the Tower, since those businesses won't...

Keeping it Real!
D'Arry'L

The boyfriend is getting a ps3 when the new ones come out in june and I am blowing it all on craft & jewelry supplies. I really want to stick it to the man but I also really want a good guillotine cutter.

RefrigeratorToo

My's about to go out and need to find a new one. Got to keep the beer cold and all.

spend

Paying off the refrigerator. The old one broke a few months back, and bought a new one on a Sears charge card. The 6 months no finance ends next month, so it's time to pay it off.

DISNEYLAND

I'm taking my 12-year-old to Disneyland where we'll stalk Mulan and find Nemo.
Then pay off a fraction of my Macy's bill.
Looking cute is super expensive.

Help me understand how spending money at circle K, Red Robin, and other gas stations is "keeping it local."

Economic stimulus --- How are YOU going to spend it?

I'm keeping it local.
1. Going to the Circle K Olive & Palm and buying and drinking a few 40oz, with the homies.
2. Walk on down to Motel Drive and getting one of Fresno's finest (At that time).
3. Buy some condoms before #2.
4. Taxi over to Manchester Red Robin and getting some wings.
5. Think about paying some of the cell bill...naw its staying local.
6. Buy a kick ass BBQ grill at Fresno Ag.
7. Get some Menudo at Robertilo's
8. Buy some gas.
9. Buy some beer.
10.Get some stationary and write my congressman for more stimulas money.

Wait, Orange Bear doesn't like the orange bear? Something seems wrong here.

Hmmm maybe I'll go buy an RC helicopter instead. Cause I need one ya know. :D

I'm Buying Garlic Fries.See You at Grizzlies Tonight.

Gates open at 6 PM
Woooooooooooooooooooof.
I'll be wearing Orange.

Can we get a real Grizzlie bear mascot again?
That sissified dayglo tickle me Elmo creature needs to go.

I'm sending mine OUT of the country...

-s

I'm going to buy some airplanes, washing machines, and some big metal silos to put stuff in---all durable goods. I've been feeling bad when the news person comes on NPR and says 'sales of durable goods are down'. I just wanna help.

Ok, probably use most of it to get the VISA under control.

OK, I really don't know. But my wife has a plan. Probably the thing about the VISA.

Saving it

Call me unpatriotic, but I'm sticking in a (sort of) high-yield savings account.

I really want to buy a digital SLR but I think I'm going to take my girlfriend to the coast for the weekend. Both her and I could use a mini vacation.

.

Can you say

GASOLINE!?!?!?!?!?!

Diablo

random stuff

Being an apartment manager and a free lance photographer, I have the good fortune of being able to spend my rebate on something I would like. I'm looking at getting a few new lenses for camera and splurging on new home goods. Big whoopdeedoo I'm sure, but the extra cash lets me buy something I've been putting off for a good year now.
