Grizzlies Game

I had a blast at today's Grizzlies Game. I won 2 tickets from Fresno Famous for the luxury suite. Thank you by the way!

I was really excited as I had never been to Grizzly Stadium. I was impressed by how nice it was. There were a lot of activities for the kids there as well. It seems like a good place to take the family for a day of fun.

The suite was really nice. Seating was available indoors or outdoors. The seats indoors were nice and comfy and the A/C felt pretty good. When we first got there, we sat outdoors, but the Cinco de Mayo celebration was distracting to us. The music coming from there was just plain annoying, so we moved to the indoor seating by the 4th inning.
The seats were directly behind the first base, so we had a really wonderful view of the entire stadium.

At one point during the game this little odd looking white bird, landing on the railing in front of the seats, at sat there looking at all of us. At a minute, it flew farther down the stadium and did the same thing, as if it was begging for food. Was actually kind of cute!

We really enjoyed ourselves at the game. Everyone at the stadium was really friendly. We would for sure go back, if the chance ever arises.

The only complaint we had, was when we left. We had parked in the parking garage across the street. As we were heading into the garage, we got a bit of a shock. This woman started approaching us, mumbling something we didn't understand. She had about 5 kids with her, and the were lingering around the side of the building just off the sidewalk. One boy about 8-9 years old, was standing up agaisnt the building behind a bush, taking a poo! We were shocked and disgusted at that. There are places all around to go potty, go find one and use it.

Other then that nastiness, we really enjoyed the day at the ball park.

You never see the police around much at events

They should be set up at all ends of an event to handle the crowd.
They should be ticketing mama with her little bush pooper.
Hand her a bag and a pooper scooper.

That's another problem Downtown.
You have public bathrooms but they use bushes, the alleys and store doorways.
The parking garages and elevators smell horid.
How about some "No pooping in public" signs?

Also how much is being spent on police at Grizzlie games?
They don't do anything about the drunks on Thirsty Thursday.
Do they really need to be there sitting on horses at taxpayers expense?
It's the stadium security escorting drunks out.

Also what's up with the Stadium employee dress codes?
Are they representing Fresno Grizzlies with FRESNO tattooed on the back of their head?
Are those bear paw prints on their face?
Are they trained to threaten the drunks cussing at them?
Is threatening drunks part of food severing training?
"Would you like fries with that while I jump the counter and beat you?"

Pull your pants up boy!
I dont want to see plumbers crack or skid marks on you briefs at the counter serving garlic fries.

The same goes for the women.
Pull up your baggy pants and tuck your shirts in.
Your suppose to be professional on a job.
Health Department should site them.

Suprised too

We were suprised by the size of the crowd downtown as well. It didn't even occur to us that the traffic and the people walking would be as large as they were.
I thought that there should have been police directing traffic in a few areas and possibly for crowd control.

Sunday fun downtown

Now, while I was a lowly citizen who had to buy my ticket for the game in the upper level, I also enjoyed the game despite the chaos on the mall. I think I was just so happy that the Fulton Mall was actually the happening place that the music didn't faze me.

Did anyone else notice how chaotic downtown was on Sunday afternoon? And even though it was broad daylight, you can never be too careful I guess-- walking on BUSY TULARE STREET a man starting following me and yelling at me all the way to the stadium from the FM. I was on the phone with a friend and had to tell her my location in case something happened. I'm really not that afraid of people, but this guy was verbally aggressive.

Besides all of that, I thought it was an insanely successful day for downtown. My heart was warmed.

the closeness

For me it was a little of both. I honestly couldn't hear the announcers of the game over the music from the mall. We left during the 4th inning to get food, after we returned to the suite, we sat indoors. Indoors we could still see everything, plus due to the TV playing inside,we could hear the announcers of the game. We really enjoyed the game after moving indoors.
Plus the suite next to ours had kids that didn't seem to know how to behave. At one point I thought they were busting throught the wall of the suite. I could handle that, just not that blaring music.
The music and other noise from the fulton mall made it impossible to hear what the game annoouncers were saying.

for me..

it was the kind of music. If it had been some good "Rancheras" or some bomb ass "cumbias" I wouldn't have minded as much, but man I HATE REGGEATON!!!!

I think the reasoning behind putting the stage where it was is trying to create the sense of excitement. The "wow, look how much stuff is going on" or "hey maybe downtown isn't as dead as people make it out to be". I'm just spitballing, I wasn't on the Cinco De Mayo Festival Planning Committee. Either way a little more needs to be paid attention the cleaning aspect of the festival.

I would think the event planners would be more considerate

The City officials over the mall should be the main ones held responsible.
They should have insisted it be away from the stadium as a common courtesy.
Its poor manners to blast any music anywhere.
Especially when it interfers with other peole or legitimate business
Strike it up as another example of scaring decent business and people away from Downtown.
You go to the Stadium to see baseball and get blasted by loud music.
Do you want to comeback and hear that regularly?
I think not!

I suck at intros too

So I would like to add that I was lame with the intros too, nice to know I wasn't the only one. And yes, the music was sooo fucking loud it overpowered everything happening at the Chuck. I was just imagining stadium managers asking themselves "Who can we call to get them to turn it the hell down?"

The event planners at the Cinco Celebration obviously didn't check or care there was a game going on at The Chuck.

Thank you to the Famous Overlords for the ticks and (almost best of all) the parking pass.

imho on the music

i'd say it was proximity more than anything. they had a stage set up directly east of the fulton mall entrance to the ballpark. i know that's a big, open space, but there's also one further down the mall by the security bank building. in fact, i think that other space is the one with the short, built in stage.

and this isn't just people being cranky. honestly, during the game i figured that it would be likely to read a letter to the editor in the bee during the next week from someone complaining about the music. it was blaring. although we were sitting on the completely opposite side of the stadium, we could hear it crystal clear. and i'd guestimate that we were about 1/4 mile away. (ballpark is about 400 ft down left field line, add in another 200 at least for the distance we were to the field, + 100 from left field fence to outside of park, + about another 400 to the square where the music was = 1/4 mile or so)

Was it the kind of musica

Was it the kind of musica that makes it poor manners or just the proximity to the stadium?

Nice meeting you all

I to was a little shy about meeting new people. I am very shy until I get to know you, then I never shut up.
We did have a great time. My partner had never been to a baseball game ever, and even she had a great time.

I agree that the music from the fulton mall should have been set up farther down the mall. I have a short attention span, and the noise from the game, added with the noise from the fulton mall, made my head spin exorcist style. I get that way even in noisy restuarants.

I was totally shocked by the pooing along the sidewalk. I honestly feel bad for the gardener that will find that mess. I just can't believe the way people behave. The amount of litter was sad as well. Show a little respect for this fine Town.

brattybrat's picture

The Music should have been set up at the other end of the mall

Having it near the Stadium just like throwing the trash on the ground is poor manners.
Enough said!

meeting everyone

Sorry folks, I should have done a better job of introducing myself, next time. Thanks to FF for the free tickets!! I had fun.

After the game me and my buddy tried walking down the mall, man it was crazy.

As much as I like the fact that there were a ton of people I couldn't help but notice the amount of garbage everywhere. I understand there a was festival going on, but it really seemed excessive.

Why do people find it okay to just throw their trash anywhere when they are at a festival or in a large crowd? There are usually trash cans provided but people still just toss it where ever they want. It's not just the people on the Fulton Mall, I've seen it everywhere.
