Poetry reading: Brian Turner and Blas Manuel De Luna

Former Fresno State creative writing students Brian Turner and Blas Manuel De Luna will read from their work, with a reception and book signing to follow.

Turner's first poetry collection, Here, Bullet, details his year leading an infantry team in Iraq beginning in November 2003. The book has received praise in the pages of The New Yorker magazine and on National Public Radio. De Luna's first poetry collection, Bent To The Earth, was a 2005 nominee for the prestigious National Book Critics Circle Award and is published by Carnegie Mellon University Press.

The event is part of the English Department's ongoing Visiting Writer Series, co-hosted by the MFA program in creative writing and the San Joaquin Literary Association. For details, call (559) 278-2553.
