The Bee reports that students in Kerman and Orange Cove walked out of class today to protest a proposed immigration bill. The bill came out of Senate committee last night, with the most objectionable provisions, such as the felony designation for illegally entering the country, removed. Close to 1,000 Fresno students marched to City Hall yesterday.
Protests continued in Fresno Tuesday morning, despite the rain. By 12:30pm, the protesters had moved inside four parked FUSD school busses outside of City Hall as the rain continued to pour.
Why march to City Hall?
These students need some better education, they marched to the wrong offices, they needed to march to Federal Offices specifically to their local Representative and Senators. City Hall has really nothing to do with this legislation.
"After rallying at City Hall, many students walked through downtown along a route that included the federal courthouse, the county courthouse and the Fulton Mall"
