Announcing Bike to Work Day - coming Friday, May 19, 2006!
FOr the last 4 years growing numbers of cyclists have joined the Fresno County Bicycle Coalition in Bike to Work Day, a part of the statewide / nationwide Bike to Work Week, May 14 - 20.
Last year we had over a hundred participants. We rode down Blackstone from the Sears parking lot at Manchester Center, just about 3 miles to the Kern Street Coffee Company, which has been kind enough to sponsor us each year.
Last year we had politicians from Fresno and Clovis, some media exposure, and police support (we try real hard to obey all traffic laws, even if the drivers around us don't!).
Join us this year, May 19, 2006. We will start at 8:30 a.m. for a leisurely ride Downtown, where coffee and bagels will be provided. Participation in the event is free, there's no need to register - just show up with your bike and your helmet (required for under 18 and recommended for all ages).
