No, I don't work for New Rock 104.1, but, I do occasionally listen to it. And I will definitely be listening to it at 10:00 am Monday. That's when New Rock will be playing the new Tool song - they've been talking about it all weekend.
I miss this kind of thing - making an event from some new song or album coming out.
I don't know if it's just me but, it feels like, there once was more drama surrounding new songs and albums getting released. Going to the "The Warehouse" at midnight on Monday nights was a regular thing. Whether it was to get the new Van Halen disc or Pearl Jam, it almost didn't matter. Ya just needed an excuse to be there getting a new album and being the first person in town to listen to the whole thing.
Maybe it's still prevalent: going to Tower Records, midnight on Mondays, getting a new album before anyone else. Or, radio stations leaking new songs off an album, before it's released. I might just be out of touch and it's going on just as much as it use too, it's just not "my" bands that are involved.
Hell, I've been waiting for an opportunity to get a new studio album from Van Halen for, like, ten years now so, out of touch I just may be.

Here is that song ...

Leaked
It already leaked this weekend. It's not very good.
The hype and fun surronding a new release is still there. The anticipation of getting a new record is still there. Digital media just allows for people to have it before it hits the shelves. But, you have to understand that many of these same people are the ones still buying the record that Tuesday and going to the shows.
