Once again another year without closure but steady progress to find justice for all Armenians around the world. Yet even with the recognition or acknowlegment we all deserve there never will be closure, there will never be healing until the day that justice will be served, on the day of judgment.

My grandparents were orphans of the genocide. My grandfather watched his mother attacked and murdered and the rest of the family killed or taken away, he never forgot the words of the Turkish soldier that said to the others leave him here, he is too young to survive on his own he will surely die, but he didnt. He managed to find only one brother before they started their march from Kharpert they held on to each other all day and I can only imagine the pain he felt when he awoke the next morning to find that his brother was gone, taken away and he was left with other children to be lead away. He searched his whole life for him or any of the others. Egypt, Syria, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon and countless other areas but never found one of them or anyone that knew if any survived. I only hope the love that we had before he passed away somehow eased some of that anguish.

My grandmother can speak of hardly any of it, just the orphanages. The only image she would speak of is the last time she saw her, she was headed over the hillside to gather water and she can remember her sillouhette and her last look over her shoulder before she was gone and she never saw her again. It was rumored that she was one of the ones that was abducted but never heard from again. I never pushed either of them knowing that what they beared was something no one in this world should have, yet sadly they were not the only ones.

So all I can wish for on this day once again is that God will ease the pain of the memories that all of the survivors still have in their hearts and keep the ones patient in Heaven until we can all be united again one day, InshAllah.
None of us will ever forget.
