A celebration of the Year of the Museum and FAM's 58th anniversary. June 2 - June 4, 2006. Beginning at 11am on Friday, June 2 the Fresno Art Museum will remain open for 58 consecutive hours! Special events will be held throughout the day and NIGHT! Men Who Cook, Family Days, Groovin' Hawaiian Luau and the President's Soiree are just a few of our headlining events.

Friday June 2

11 am Opening ceremony

12 - 4pm Golden Age Movie: Gone with the Wind

5pm Men Who Cook
Doors open early for Museum members.

6 - 10pm Men Who Cook
Doors open for the general public
The 9th annual Men Who Cook and some who don't, will kick off the weekend of celebration. This year enjoy culinary delights from over 75 cooks and restaurants!
$20 adult/ $10 children 12 and under / Free children 3 years and younger

11pm Late night jazz with Armen Nalbandian
Enjoy original jazz compositions from Musical Director/Artist in Residence, Armen Nalbandian. Back by popular demand Nalbandian and his 9 piece ensemble will perform Witness, a jazz suite inspired by Anne Scheid's Witness exhibition shown at the Art Museum April 2005.
$15 general admission / $10 FAM members / $5 children 12 and under

2am Hitchcock Movie Marathon

6am Yoga
Begin your journey within to a conscious, open, intergrated life with COIL YOGA in the serene setting of the Fresno Art Museum's Sculpture Garden.

10am - 12pm Family Day Art Activity: Pinatas for Everyone!
Come join us to explore the amazing world of Mexican Folk Art. Through interactive activities, families can enjoy and create art projects. From brown bag Pinata to working with wood, each handcrafted, take-home piece of art will be a lasting family treasure. Instructor, Virgie Pina Aguirre

12pm - 4pm (Drop-in Anytime) Family Day Art Activity: Huichol Yarn Painting
Drop-in and make your own beautiful yarn painting. This is a project the whole family can enjoy! Watch a video and listen while Huichol artist tell their own stories about Huichol Yarn Painting. You will delight in learning about the customs and family traditions that are a source of inspiration for this beautiful folk art. You will relate to the playful images and patterned textiles, which depict everyday life and special events that occur in the villages. Instructor, Diego Monterrubio

Enjoy appetizers, cocktails and groovin' tunes. This will be the best Luau east of the islands with Polynesian dancers and exciting entertainment all night!

It is never too late to learn something knew or share a creative moment with someone you love. This family workshop will teach you not only how to see the elements of Art: color, line, value, texture, shape, form and space - it will also give you the opportunity to use the principles of design to make and take home your own nature collage and monoprint. To conclude the weekend of celebration the Presidents' Soiree will commemorate the Museum's past Presidents with a luxurious cocktail buffet. A delightful evening with musical entertainment and fabulous company among the art!
