Uh oh. The City Council is in Las Vegas again, stumping for Fresno at the National Retail Convention. Could this be the year Bass Pro decides to move Downtown? Will Tom Boyajian succeed in recruiting a Frys or an IKEA for South of the Stadium? Forest City still has development rights to the area, but nothing's happened.

...ikea preys on the hearts and wallets of twenty-thirty somethings, most of their stuff falls apart after a move or two, and is made of particle schmutz with decals on them to look like real wood...
---even though they are less expensive and look cool...
Something made of real wood lasts much longer, and you'll have it and enjoy it for a long time... besides Woodworkers and refinishers in the valley need the business...
(...the fact that I am a woodworker and refinisher has nothing to do with this post.... nope, nossir,,, not at all..)
---Besides, Real wood is cut down by beavers, and beavers are so darn cute and ambitious... --and talk with such great whistles,,, --(or like Bob Hoskins if you are into Narnia..)
--Particle board and composite board products are made by carpenter ants and termites... Now, I ask you, WHICH do you want to support??? Healthy Swimming fur bearing dentally challanged critters who have great huge flat tails ---and build DAMS (..the things that make California possible????)

(okay, it's a reach,,, but really, do you want a sofa named Larrs? and a Wastepaper basket named Inge???
(--two Beavers, one named Larrs, one named Inge, are a far better deal.)

I think an IKEA store would do great down there. A giant fishing store has no place in an urban setting!
