Autumn Sky Lencioni: Wanderings
"Wanderings" is an alternative photographic installation by local artist Autumn Lencioni. Autumn is a Fresno native who has been working with photography for 10 years. She graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelor's in Fine Art Photography in 2001. Since then, she has completed a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Art and is in the process of completing a Masters in studio art from CSU Fresno.
Her current exhibition features a collection of images made during travels throughout California and in post Hurricane Katrina New Orleans. Her work possesses a quiet, moody style and deals with subject matter that embodies solitude and deterioration. All of the images tie into a conceptual scheme whereby the exhibit is an illustration of one verse in scripture, "You have kept record of my days of wandering. You have stored my tears in your bottle and counted each of them." Psalm 56:8 (CEV)
In this exhibit, Autumn presents unique hand-made Van Dyke prints. Van Dyke prints are a traditional photographic process that was popular in the 19th and early 20th Centuries. The images are made by contact printing in sunlight, resulting in beautiful, warm tone prints. A demonstration and talk with the artist will be given for those who are interested in learning more about this technique.
