In "Existence of Progression" Monterrubio continues to delve into his palette and psyche to bring forth compelling images to illustrate that "Art works are ambassadors from the little misunderstood realm of our imaginations." Monterrubio's past work consists of images dealing with various subjects ranging from the immigrant experience, Mexican-American culture, figurative abstract, the search for privacy, as well as an exploration into the grotesque themes of exile, identity, perception, and a retreat into solitude. In a time when paint is thrown carelessly about causing human suffering and complicity, "Existence of Progression", is a compilation of Monterrubio's passion to exist in a world of art that acknowledges the need to move forward after pivotal experiences.
