The quiet buzz of fluorescent retail lights might cheer some people up. Gottshalk's is leaving Fig Garden Village (meet me at Starbucks, Fig Garden Village style) to make room for some other fancy pants retailers. And by fancy we mean not at all: rumor in the junior department is it could be a Pottery Barn or Banana Republic. This news lacks some of the luster of yesterday's announcement by Barney's, which plans to build its biggest store yet at Riverpark, right next to the Bergdorf outlet.
