"No Somos Criminales"" features the work of artists who have created images through keen social observation and an affinity for common people. They have combined their knowledge of politics and art in an effort to construct a sovereign cultural identity for Latinos that represents a contemporary Chicano/Chicana aesthetic and is an alternative voice within the dominant hegemonist culture of 21st Century America.

The artists whose work is included in the show are: Caleb Duarte, Terry Foss, Jeanette Gutierrez, Tim Z. Hernandez, Manuel Martinez, Vincent Mendez, Sylvia Savala, Pedro Sosa, Eduardo Stanley, Tudor Stanley, Armando H. Torres, and Martin Zuniga.

"No Somos Criminales" will have an opening reception Friday July 21, at Arte Americas and will coincide with the larger exhibition of Chicano Art of The Cheech Marin Collection opening at the same time.
