The Fresno Collective for Arts, Freedom & Ecology, is a total liberation collective. We are dedicated to active struggle against all forms of illegitimate hierarchy and oppression. We support human liberation, first and foremost the struggle of the poor and working class here in Fresno and across the globe against the rule of the corporate state; we support the liberation of people of color from racial and ethnic prejudice; we support womyn's liberation; we support indigenous rights, especially in their struggle for land and self-determination; and we support the freedom struggle of gay, lesbian, and transgendered persons. We seek to dismantle the most fundamental and pervasive forms of oppressive hierarchy: that which seeks to transform animals and environments into commodities for profit. Thus we actively support earth and animal liberation. We are sick of choking on the lie that "freedom" consists in bowing down to the rule of the filthy rich. No. Enough. Enough of the destruction, the nihilism, the violence, the oppression. Ya basta! The embrace of "the Other," respect for and celebration of the uniqueness of all Life, mutual aid, community strength through consensus--these are our truths, the truths we share with all the others in a network of resistance. It is our time and our destiny.
CAFE's infoshop/community center in Chinatown is designed around groups and programs that provide live alternatives to capitalism. These include the Native Women's Council, Sierra Nevada Earth First!, Food Not Bombs, Friends of Jesse Morrow Mountain, RANCOR, Fresno Voices for Animals, Fresno Community Grocery (a weekly food distro), POWER, and radical left lectures, films, art and music shows. Please check our calendar of events at cafefresno.org and join the struggle of all Life to be free.
"For struggling for a better world all of us are fenced in, threatened with death. The fence is reproduced globally. In every continent, every city, every rural area, every house, the Power's fence of war closes in on the rebels whom humanity always thanks.
But fences are broken. In every house, in every rural area, in every city, in every state, in every country, on every continent the rebels, that the history of humanity repeats along its entire course to assure itself of hope, struggle and the fence shakes.
The rebels search each other out. They walk towards one another. They find each other and together break other fences. In the rural areas and cities, in the states, in the nations, on the continents, the rebels begin to recognise themselves, to know themselves to be equal and different. They continue on their fatiguing walk, walking as it is now necessary to walk, that is to say, struggling.... " - Delegate Zero, Zapatista spokesperson
Chinatown / Cafe Fresno
There really is no better place in Fresno to be to support the fight for liberation of the poor and working class than Fresno's Chinatown, that area has to have the most variety of rich and poor, and race and ethnicity in a small area. If allowed Chinatown could out do the Tower District, as a Entertainment area... After spending Three years regularly in the area, I've seen the Day and Night action Chinatown gets from the great regular public events to the wild night life on the street. If you are a progressive leader you should be able to get in to the revitalization group, and give them some real leadership that they need.
Thanks You for the announcement to the Cafe Fresno web page, it looks good, (I like the 'The White Rose' background, very appropriate for the site)
I'm interested in the Radical Movie Night, but what movies will be shown?
