New Valley Music

We think the valley is experiencing a renaissance of sorts when it comes to independent music. Fresno is at least; maybe in other valley towns it never faded. We know for sure that the new releases from both Built Like Alaska and No Cello are worth listening to. They represent the two ends of the spectrum: one is an established band earning more and more national attention, on Future Farmer, a well-known valley label. The other is young, raw, and just starting out on Fresno's new Greytank Records. We like em both. This week in Famous Malcolm Sosa profiles the day he spent in Oakdale with Built Like Alaska. Their new album, "Autumnland" is a collection of dreamy tracks recorded in guitarist Neil's house- which is grandfather built by hand, literally brick by brick.
Also this week we review No Cello's first release, "The New Persuasion". The future of Fresno rock!
Finally, after weeks of research, we release our top ten favorite cheap drink spots. Why pay $3 for beer when you can pay $2?
