Don't set yourself on fire

Happy Fourth of July, people. Fireworks have been in the news a lot the past few days, as people seem to be forgetting about the "safe 'n sane" labels on their merrymakers.

Channel 30 reports that the City of Fresno is cracking down on illegal fireworks use, and has significantly beefed up its enforcement and citation-writing teams. Channel 24 says that vandals recently stole $3,000 worth of fireworks from a Sanger stand that was raising money for a church youth group. And the Fresno Bee predicts that tonight's Independence Day celebrations across the Valley are likely to send "dangerous showers of microscopic pollution" into the hearts and lungs of everyone outside.

Kind of makes you want to ignore all the public events and just curl up at home with a good book.
