lost Fresno History for the downtown photo project - what this building looked like before

I was driving around in the area just south of downtown and noticed this strange old building that was once a part of the Fresno Traction Company's collection of rail cars that ran from the birth on January 25, 1889 (horse drawn until electrified on October 14, 1902) and died May 20, 1939 the day of last run.

This type of railcar know as a Brill Stepless "Dragon" 44' Streetcar from 1913 was not used after 1934 and this one ended up here today on Los Angeles Street and has been there for about 70 years.

Here is a High quality image of the old streetcar

near the same area this old building can be found...

I plan to have some more images up later this month.

I took some pictures of it

I took some pictures of it last year, and then again last spring. The first time I went there, a friendly gentleman came out of the car and explained the history of it, that it was a hot dog stand for many years. He also said they were going to renovate it into a diner/hot dog stand again. When I came back again a couple of months later it looked like nothing had happened. Who knows.

It's on S Cherry between Broadway and Los Angeles street. Half a block north of where Google placed the marker on this link: Location

That Building belongs to my ....

That building (the one with the blue 'awning' sign, and the old 'mingle' sign...the building that looks all brick and by itself and old western)---that's my wife's uncle's, ex-wife's family's business. Sort of an ex-aunt thing in simplified form?
anyways....had to call her in to see it on the screen.

Mr. antimusick do you have any pics of the old Virginia Hotel? Or have you ever heard of any stories of that old neighborhood?

spider museum

The building is probably one of the many spider museums that are in Fresno.

Old Trolley Car

I stumbled upon that old diner a few months ago. I later took my kids out to see it . It really is cool but sad as well.

VERY cool pics

I never knew those two buildings existed. How cool would it be if somebody revived that railcar back into a diner?
