Fresno Poets' Association feat. Jesse Lee Kercheval
The second installment of the Fresno Poets' Association 2006-07 season features an evening of poetry with Jesse Lee Kercheval. The reading inside the Bonner Auditorium at the Fresno Art Museum will be followed by a reception and book signing in the museum gallery.
Kercheval is the author of six books including the poetry collections, Dog Angel (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2004), and World as Dictionary (Carnegie Mellon University Press, 1999), as well as the memoir Space, about growing up near Cape Kennedy during the moon race, which won the Alex Award from the American Library Association; the novel The Museum of Happiness which has been reissued with a new afterword as part of the University of Wisconsin Press's Library of American Fiction series, the writing text Building Fiction, and the acclaimed story collection The Dogeater, which won the Associated Writing Programs Award in Short Fiction.
She is currently the Sally Mead Hands Professor of English at the University of Wisconsin where she directs the Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing.
The FPA is supported by Poets and Writers, Inc., through grants it has received from the James Irvine Foundation and the Bonner Family Foundation. Further funding comes from donation by FPA members.
