Wild Hare fakers?

As reported by Mike Oz. on the Bee Hive Blog from FresnoBee.com, Fresno rock station KRZR (with the worst mascot/tagline in Fresno radio history "The Wild Hare") has been claiming that they are going away on Wednesday at 8:00AM.
The prospect of this has excited many, but I've been torn. These guys have always run their station in a beerchugging-eighties-holdovers-mullet-wearing-white-trash sort of way. But, they fill a needed spot in Fresno radio. A spot I would miss.
As Mike Oz. wrote, it is more likely this is just a stunt and they are doing a morning show changeover instead of closing shop. If that's the case, it is actually good because the current Mancow Show is awful.
But to do it in a way that makes everyone think the current KRZR format is going away, along with its DJ's, is shitty. Even for balding, beergutted, mulletheads.

I won't be shedding a tear
The only cool thing about the channel is that they are the only ones that play moderately good rock. I can't stand all the throw back songs they put in, but hey it's their channel. Kudos to them for trying though, the pit is a good show. 104.1 is at least up to date with new stuff, even if it is all whiney at least I'm not hearing 70's and 80's tunes.
Second the Z rock motion, that station does ROCK.

Today's paper said that ZR won't be one of the stations sold as Clear Channel is only selling stations that aren't in the top 100 markets. Let's hope that holds true. I'm curious as to who the new morning show will be. It won't be Chris Daniel or Brad Giese, they are up in San Francisco. ZR better not make another mistake and put some idiots on like Opie and Anthony.
Clear Channel sold to a private equity firm yesterday. Don't know what it will actually mean for KRZR but a little birdie is saying Channel 47 is on the sales block now...
