Singapore has banned the sitcom "Two and a Half Men", ruling that it is pornographic due to its risqué dialogue and thinly-veiled double entendres.

vegan friendly restaurants?

hi everyone :)
first off, i love fresno famous! i haven't lived in fresno for a few years, but i always check out the site so i can see whats happening. i am looking for some tasty places to eat while i'm in town. i don't really know too many people in fresno so if anyone wants to join me that'd be cool, too. i'd really like to experience more of the fresno i never really knew about when i was in highschool.

New Stars Vegetarian Restaurant

Found at 1134 East Champlain Drive Suite 108, this is a sore spot for me and my family! We have been regular customers to this place since their opening several months ago. At first, the food and service was terrific. But as recently as yesterday (7-17-08), we have had to admit to ourselves that this is not for us any more. There has been a growing attitude with the main waitress about what you order and how you may want to change the order, i.e. "May I please have some extra gravy on my potatoes?" The face she makes was not seen a few months ago! Last night, our "extra" gravy came to $6 on the bill! What?!! For the three of us, the bill was $40. I can safetly say that there is no way we ate $40 worth of food. I can also safetly say that I don't think we will be going back there any time soon. It's sad to say... One last thing, we had to summon the waitress each and every time we needed a refill on the sodas or water or extra napikns or whatever. Never once did she drop by to ask if everything was all right or did we need refills and such. In the past, we have always left her a $5 or $6 tip. Last night we left one penny as a message to her... It is a certain let-down for me that we are probably not returning as I had enjoyed our trips there when they first opened.

SWEET!

I guess now I'll HAVE to go to the north side...

New Veggie Restaurant

There's a new vegetarian restaurant opening in January in the Piazza del Fiore, corner of Champlain&Perrin in the courtyard near BlueMoon Yoga!

If there's one thing I like almost as much as eating vegan food, it's talking about vegan food! :)

I guess I'll go on and plug my vegan restaurant reviews in the Undercurrent, which I do every month. You can view them online at:
www.fresnoundercurrent.net/reviews.html

Right now I'm hooked on the curries at B&K Thai on McKinley at First (be sure to specify vegan). I'm also super excited that Cheker's (downtown near the Warner Theatre) is serving tofu scramble as part of their Saturday breakfast menu. They have quite a few vegan options on their regular menu, falafel, hummus, etc, as well, which are all really good.

Unfortunately, Thaiphoon (the new place in the Tower) does not have anything vegetarian on their regular menu (it all has fish sauce, etc), but if you're willing to call a day ahead, they can fix something vegan for you. They're working on adding veg*n options to their regular menu.

senses cuisine is also good. not all vegetarian, but definately do have good veg dishes.

Au Lac on Van Ness south of McKinley has all veggie stuff, most of it vegan.
