AKRON/FAMILY + DAME SATAN @ HOWIE'S PIZZA!
Brooklyn, New York's Akron/Family return to Howie & Son's Pizza with their new record "Meek Warrior"(Young God Records).
On Aug. 28th of this year the band played on the David Letterman Show; and has steadily been building a large fan base.
Their live shows are inspiring and unforgettable. The entire band sings simultaneously; evoking the lusher Beatles and Beach Boys harmony moments. However, the band isn't a retro-pop band. They are more like psychedelic pirates; playing lengthy songs that utilize strange percussion like shells and bells.
Aaron Gomes (local promoter) says, "Akron/Family are one of the most excitingly-fresh indie bands touring today. They were easily one of the best bands we hosted at Howie's last year. Never have I hosted a band with such stylistic range. One moment they are completely rocking and the next playing something sparse and beautiful; both uniquely their own."
Opening for Akron/Family will be San Francisco's Dame Satan. This folk-rock band made up four early-twenty-somethings combine electic, acoustic, and slide guitars, banjo, harmonica, and drums; deliver a beautiful and wise-beyond-their-years sound. Like Akron/Family one of Dame Satan's strengths is their impressive multi-vocal arrangements.
