Fresno Famous, R.I.P.
There is a lack of alternative media in this area.
The Fresno Bee has a history of buying up or shutting down alternative media in Fresno (remember the Metro?).
A significant reason for the lack of diversity of thought in Fresno is the minimal outlet for non-Beelike opinions.
Fresno is a one-horse town.
The Bee will tell it differetly. But their actions speak louder than their many, many, many words.
Don't get me wrong. The Bee provides a crucial service to the community. I wouldn't want it to change. Fresno Famous also supplied a necessary voice for that community.
But the Bee running Fresno Famous is like Justin Timberlake covering Black Flag.

so, maybe we've learned something here.
1. even though not meant with perhaps the most positive of intentions: you can 'fake,' poetry, -which means that you actually can do real poetry... -that's pretty good.
2. there has been plenty of people who write and read good and bad poetry that have not slit their wrists,,, (though the finger snapping is a part of a lot of 'jam,' scenarios.)
-Since you know how not to do this, -and actually can write poetry,
---maaaaaaybe you have a talent that is not as deeply hidden as you think, (and hopefully not via some dark spirit,)
-maybe you should seriously write and develop this talent?
(It would be a terrible thing to let go to waste, there are plenty of folks who can't string two words together, -and you obviously can.)
I think you have talent that you're either hiding, or not aware of.
Write.
Whether you show it to others, or not.
Just write because you feel like it, and do so however you wish.
Don't worry about what other people think.
It's a waste of time, only holds creativity and growth to the level of everybody else, (which often times, is only to about a half inch off the floor.)
-Not because they don't have any talent,
---but because all they know to do with the attempt at creating is to make fun of it and crush it out,(pathetic behavior, but there it is.)
You eat, sleep, bathe, wear clothes, and think your own thoughts because that is what you have a right to do.
Don't let others dictate who or what you are in those things.
Be yourself.
If nobody else gets it, too bad.
Somebody else will, eventually.
That cannot stop you.
FYI.....the poem was a joke
I had to call upon certain sprits the lie deep beneath my prepuescence in order to compose the driveling "poem." If I really was an emo kid, it would have been one hell of a poem though. I would have to slit my wrists after reading it as people snapped their fingers while giving looks of indifference.
but, but, but...
I think the selling of FresFamous is a good thing.
I think it was a great example of somebody from here creating something, and then making money with all of their hard work...
I think it's time that the folks who are so bent out of shape
-actually make something themselves..
(you know, like DO something, besides whine about change...)
(not a bad poem though... I could see Bauhaus covering it...
--maybe you could sell it to them, and make money off your talent...
(which would be cool.)
-just be ready for your friends to say that you sold out...
(seeeee, it's one big happy cycle...)
How emo is it
To post an R.I.P. blog for Fresno Famous? I think you forgot to inlclude a poem.
O my lover Fresno Famous
carry your casket
over a threshold of black death
blood stained tears of despair
all is never to be forgiven
the swift cold
of the night
and Sour Grapes stolen from me
my sweet
my beloved
my pain
my torture
my love
sold
(lights go dark)
I sooooo miss
Emo Phillips...
'Emo, Emo, Emo....'
'-I'm right here, the one in the middle...'
'I'm going to have to expel you...'
'-Okay, but won't you have to catch me and eat me first?'
thanks for the mam, er, memories. (Speakin' of Justin and Janet.)
That's so emo.
That's so emo.
aw nuts...
(...I thought we were going to get 'Black Flag' to play here... bummer.)
(Who's Justin Timberlake? isn't he the guy who grabbed Janet's,,, erm, wardrobe? and one of the BackSeat Boys??) (Didn't he have something to do with Brittany as well?
...wait... they were both Mouskateers, right?
(Or was he like Brittany and Clay Aiken's adoptive child...)
...please can we have Black Flag? (or maybe the Pixies or Dead Kennedy's??? -please?)
...we don't have to go flashin' people to win tickets do we?
(....All I had to do to get tickets to Armand/Nino was be 'callers number 2, 3, 4, (and) 5...')
...and wash Frank's car for a month...
(okay, lied about the car washin' part.)
Win Justin Timberlake tickets!
Excellent segue!
"A significant reason for
"A significant reason for the lack of diversity of thought in Fresno is the minimal outlet for non-Beelike opinions."
Tell that to the people working on The Undercurrent and the Community Alliance.
"Fresno is a one-horse town."
Now you're just being short-sighted. As you mourn the death of Famous, you loose your embrace on one of Famous's most basic ideas: Fresno is a pretty cool town. Famous works to abolish thinking like this.
"The Bee will tell it differetly. But their actions speak louder than their many, many, many words."
You're right. Instead of castigating The Bee before they do anything to Famous, why don't you wait and see if and how things change.
"But the Bee running Fresno Famous is like Justin Timberlake covering Black Flag."
Famous is its community. The content is community-driven and community-focused. If your concern is that the content is going to wane, then do what you can to make it better. If you feel that this purchase means that The Bee is going to dillute the message, I refer you to a quote from the announcement:
Disclosure: I work for The Fresno Bee.
