Despite their deadly reputation, more people are infected with rabies annually by deer than either bats or rats.

Spectrum Gallery - Photography meets Writing

meritzea 2a.jpg

The Spectrum Gallery presents a show of photography and writing by the Youth of the Boys and Girls Club! The idea for the show became a reality when the Spectrum Gallery received grant money from the Fresno Arts Council. Generous volunteers and sponsors pitched in, and a program was born. To date, the workshop, which consists of weekly instruction over the course of 8 weeks, has been offered twice. Participants shoot digital cameras and compile written entries into a picture book. Students also work thematically, occasionally taking home disposable cameras to explore their ideas. By the end of the workshop, participants have a unique picture book and matted enlargement to take home.

Earlier in the year, a partial display of this work was exhibited at Fresno City Hall, where it was well received. The wonderfully colorful, playful images are accompanied by excerpts of written entries. The show will be on display at The Spectrum Art Gallery December 20th, 2006-January 21st, 2007. Please join us for Art Hop January 4th 5-8 pm or at our Reception for the Artists on January 7th from 1-4pm!
