Fresno Poets' Association feat. Philip Levine
The fourth installment of the Fresno Poets' Association 2006-07 season features an evening of poetry with Philip Levine. The reading inside the Bonner Auditorium at the Fresno Art Museum will be followed by a reception and book signing in the museum gallery.
Levine is one of the most influential writers in the history of the central San Joaquin Valley, and taught poetry at Fresno State for four decades. He has published more than 20 books of poetry, prose, and translations. He has won dozens of major literary prizes, including the 1994 Pulitzer Prize for the poetry collection The Simple Truth and the 1991 National Book Award for the poetry collection What Work Is. Levine's most recent book is the 2004 collection Breath.
The FPA is supported by Poets and Writers, Inc., through grants it has received from the James Irvine Foundation and the Bonner Family Foundation. Further funding comes from donation by FPA members.
