Chaotic Heart and Mia Paschal, whose show "some life" won the Best of the Fringe - Best Female Solo Award at the 2004 San Francisco Fringe Festival, will present her newest work at the Rogue Performance Festival, the autobiographical "This Lily Was (Fontana)", winner of the Best of the Fringe - Best Dramatic Female Solo Award at the 2006 San Francisco Fringe Festival. "This Lily Was (Fontana)", with lighting design by Curtis Overacre, plays March 2 - 10 at Dianna's Studio of Dance (North), Fresno.
"This Lily Was (Fontana)": An arm embroidered with scars. Seven suicide attempts. A woman who has found comfort in cutting herself takes her salvation where she can get it: in myths and bibles both holy and profane, from Italian psych ward travelers, the echoes of a blues legend howling along a dusty road, the memory of the taste of red velvet cake, a long ago whispered sweet something in a language she will never understand. Mia Paschal explores a life, and not only finds the comedy within tragedy, but a deeper truth that will resonate with anyone who has ever wondered "Why?"?.
San Francisco Fringe Festival audience members said: "It sings with a transcendent beauty", "wonderful comedic moments", "a truly excellent and courageous piece of theatre", "pure poetry in motion", "exceptional talent and stage presence", "Mia Paschal transcends her pain and reigns triumphant".
