Still in Fresno-A tip of my hat to Reggie Dunbar
I've been away from FF for awhile, just been focused in other areas. Russ Minick steered me to the Lost in Fresno post, and I was greatly impressed and inspired. Here is a list of things that have been around much of my life...and they're still here! Where do you still go that takes you back to the Fresno that was?
10 Tommy's Burgers (Fulton Mall)used to be Orange Julius
9 Playland and Storyland-in jr. high I was in a theater group called the Rainbow Street Balloon Company, we performed for free at Storyland on weekends.
8 Ordering beerocks from Cross Church
7 Basque Hotel-Fried Chicken with garlic
6 Luna's and Franko's in Clovis
5 The Ripe Tomato (over 30 years, I believe)
4 Sam's Deli
3 Mama Mia's, Bullard and Palm, the calzones are awesome, we've been eating there about 40 years.
2 Don Fischer (of Dean and Don fame) Big Fresno Barn Dance, Sunday's on KFSR 90.7
1 Chicken Pie Shop-you have not had rice pudding unless you've had CPS rice pudding! Saturday mornings were huge in the 80's and 90's, but have slowed a bit. The chickens on the walls are very early memories for me.

I have been enjoying Sam's Deli Diner for almost 20 years now and I can tell you that I have never been disappointed. The burgers are great and the owner will keep you smiling as you wait for your order. Wonderful ambience, great food, superb prices...what more could you ask for?
Fresno past
Craig knows I can relate to most of those posts. A few more:
- The figs, whether it was mud football in grade school or a kegger years later.
- Wandering the neighborhood streets near the fairgrounds where my grandparents lived. No one was ever worried that I wouldn't come back or that a gang might "get me."
- Malibu Grand Prix and Woodward Park Drive-in.
On to food:
- All in or near Fig Garden Village and now gone: Aldo's Pizza, Rana's Italian, Blum's Ice Cream, Little Anthony's. Farrell's was overrated even as a kid.
- The Silver Dollar Hofbrau. At least there's one place sits where I expect to find it.
