"The Problem of Memory" series, feat. Lillian Faderman
The Master of Fine Arts program at Fresno State presents a three-part creative nonfiction reading series, "The Problem of Memory," on the campus of Fresno State. The third reading features Dr. Lillian Faderman, along with student writers Burlee Vang and Stacy C. Brand.
For writers of creative nonfiction, memory is often the source and the subject of writing. But it is also inherently problematic: It can be flawed, fragmented, subjective, and even surreal. Writers deal with the problem of memory throughout the process of writing and on the page. In this three-part reading series, nine accomplished writers of creative nonfiction will tackle the complicated predicaments that memory can create. The series intends to celebrate the genre and a create dialogue on important questions of content and craft with which each writer inevitably grapples.
A reception and book signing will follow the reading, which takes place in the Alice Peters Auditorium on campus, inside the University Business Center. (The map below is incorrect.)
