This week in Famous: 19th century Fresno

Ah, the story of Lloyd. Several weeks ago we received an email from Lloyd E. Lawrence Sr. Attached was a Word document in which Lloyd deconstructed a 1897 photo of Emerson Elementary School, his alma matter. He used the shadows in the photo to date it (June 25th) and build a story around a student marked "Anna." Fascinating stuff, considering how ornate the original Victorian-style school building was and that William Saroyan once roamed its halls. Listen to Lloyd narrate his story in this Flash presentation, and expect more from him soon. Photo collage courtesy of Lloyd himself.

Also this week, the butternut squash has arrived early and Kumar is all atwitter. Hit up your favorite farmer's market and local bakery for some late summer goodness.

Plus an all new Flowing with Famous, featuring an interview with Let's Go Bowling saxophonist Dean Olmstead and the skinny on what's happening at the Met.

A friendly reminder: Please take our survey! If you already have, thanks. Unfortunately your brownie points are not redeemable for anything but more Fresno Famous.
