I had never heard Trey play before, boy can that kid play!! Some of his antics (playing with his teeth) are a bit over the top, but there is no denying the kid has talent.
We saw him at Shaver and I'm surprised he was even up there. My wife and I were the only ones paying attention to his playing, which was amazing, and the rest of the maybe twenty people present were preoccupied with getting layed and had no idea what they were missing. That kid could flat out play the blues. Check out his website if you get the chance.

You mean besides all the terrific blues bands? Subterraneans, AC Myles, Mofo, Deja Blues, Rudy Parris band?. Besides them?
My vote goes to the mariachis that play for free at Toledos (Fresno & Shaw) every Sunday about 6:30.
...okay, first off? I know people in bands.... if I pick the wrong one? feelings will be hurt...
Besides... it's kind of hard to pick 'best,' when there is so many good.
-but.
two that I will drop anything and go see?
And have NEVER been disappointed, ever???
Who consistantly weave a spell that I still cannot shake...?
Julia Dawn, (either fronting a band or just plain playing.)
The woman is fearless, has no inhibitions with her voice, and will devestate you with one song... Sorry guys, but the girls got it everybody else is racing for second.
and
the Armen Nalbandian Trio...
These guys are incredible, -and Kevin Hills fingerwork on that bass??? Seriously... they are a tough act to beat...
I say you have to consider:
- MoFo (for sheer longevity and success)
- 40 Watt Hype (always a good time)
- Rademacher (people here love them and also always a good time)
- Super Lucky Catz (my favorite of the past year)
- Six Ounce Gloves (these dudes work hard and people love them).
- Planet Asia (although not a band, he's the most well known hip-hop guy from Fresno)
I wrote each one on a piece of people, crumpled them up and picked one at random and the paper gods say ...
Since they have no real name to their band - the name of their show each Sunday night at Veni Vidi Vici say's it all. The Free Show performed by Matt Alamano, Freedom (whose last name I cannot remember right now) and Tomas takes the cake and RULES Sunday nights anywhere.
THE FREE SHOW!!
Im with Mchelle on this! I love this band AND they let me jump on the mike to an off-key "When Doves Cry". cant beat that! And the price is right!
yeah he did
