Okay Folks: This is quite the unofficial list (which will grow by folks fessing up where they put their books for distribution...)
Official Rogue Books (map/ performance guide,)
Can be found at the following places...
***The Venues of the actual performances...***
(also?)
Starbucks: in front of Ross, (by First and Shaw, -East Bound.)
Starbucks: across from the Lysle Center, (acr. from 'State) on Shaw, (just prior to the overpass.) -East Bound.
La Boulangerie: (or whatever,) that fancy French Pastry joint in the Fig Garden Village...
Tower Vello: (the former ReCycle) -yep Chris has a stack of 'em, and they're available this evening at BikeHop
The nifty little Tatto joint: (just twenty feet from TowerVello -just opened,) in the courtyard, there.
----Anybody hitting those places and finding them out???
let me know... I'll get them some more...
(or tell them to call me, they have my card.)
(SAT. UPDATE: IT IS NOW BETTER, WITH THE FESTIVAL HAVING STARTED TO GET BOOKLETS AT THE VENUE'S THEMSELVES... THERE MAY BE A FEW LEFT AT THE 'PREV. MENTIONED.' SITES, BUT THEY GET SNARFED UP QUICK...---ALSO CHECK ONLINE AT THE ROGUE SITE.)
have a nice day.
SCORE!
Thanks dudes
Diablo
Need one of those ROGUE MAPS/GUIDES???
Not everyone has noticed this, but there really IS a copy of this
ONLINE. Yes, at roguefestival.com, if you go there.....then press on the (pinkish/orange) button near the top that says "schedule 07".
You can even print a version of this pdf file.
Here's the link to the schedule:

A few things after Sat. Night...
Okay Folks...
Those guidebooks/maps are getting quite scarce... if you have one hang onto it...
Wanna buy a shirt??? go down to Ashtree Studios (they got'em there.)
A couple of acts you will want to catch...
'Sould' --Genuinely funny, a quick engaging little number, --These boys are putting on the show for FREE, ---but if you'd like to make a donation, hey, they'd love it, (and the monies go right to the cast doing the show... It's witty, it's quick, has some nice turns in it, and the timing alone yeilds plenty of honest yuks... Liked it...
'Liesl Garner' -come I will tempt you with pleasure...
-Leisl has got a gift... the girl can write, she's honest she's funny, her viewpoint is such a refreshing feminine voice, (and a bit deeeper too.) --Very cool show, just a very sweet presentation, that even goes into some rough areas, but holds firm, is positive, and is quite strengthening... (why do these adjectives sound like I'm selling reinforcing nail polish???) Just go see her you'll enjoy it, she'll enjoy it, it will be a good thing...
The Surprise break out of the night...
'the Pacific Ocean Bluegrass Band,'
----Okay, you'll have to jump on this quickly --as they have only two shows left tomorrow,, then they head out back to home...
These kids are the Def Leppard of Bluegrass musicians... (how so?) The oldest is (I think) 16... (the banjo player,) the mandolin player is 14, the girl singer... (who's quite a cutie...) maybe 15, and the guitarist (might??? be 16...but I don't know...)
(Leppard were all in their mid teens when they started out... yep, it's true..)
---also like said arena rock goliaths???
These kids play fast, tight, with excellent harmonies, and quite frankly could level players three times their age...
Not 'cloying,' as some 'kids acts go,' ...nope, they're actually seasoned veterans, as they've been playing in family circles since being old enough to mount up on a big-wheel and burn down the driveway after the family cat...
--Seriously, they are a great great band... play beautifully, and are so far above the ticket price of (I think it was 4? maybe 3? bucks... (nice performance space too... Spectrum Gallery.)
---as they have to head back to School on Monday... they're here this weekend alone...
-catch them tomorrow in the early afternoon or early evening... then they're gone...
The lead mandolin player, (the 14 year old handles the crowd like Johnny Carson...)
Even if you don't like BlueGrass, I'd recommend it... If you do? you will be extremely pleased..
****NOTE**** Somebody from the Big Fresno Barn Dance get a copy of their CD... this stuff just plain hammers...
(I dare you to sit still during this...)
hmmm, layout..
wellll.
okay, if you click over to the thread started a coupld of days ago, (it will say 'get yer rogue on,' etc... ----there are supposed to be more links via the Bee (and FresFam.)
as far as which venues I know we used last night... (I'll go from the North Down...)
JavaWava:
(up by the highschool,) (somebody help me with the crosstreets,)
is showing the films and has other things going on through the festival. -Again great place to see the films etc. ---but it packs up quick, get there early.
Spectrum Gallery:
(this is just north of the Tower Theatre, just up from the bank... -again, beautiful little gallery and performance space, (nice accoustics,) -(they do great showings in general during ArtHop etc... nice people, etc.)
This is on (Wishon??? the one that becomes fulton a little further down???)
Starline:
(just around the corner, near Lipari's and 'Stones. (sort of an unofficial hang out for a lot of Rogue'rs too..
Major Main Stage probably the largest performance space. (Best Sound for a live band in Fresno in this man's opinion on a regular show in general.)
Veni Vidi Veci:
OK, THIS ONE IS TRICKY... IT'S IN THE PATIO BEHIND THE RESTAURANT, (THEY'VE BEEN GREAT WITH TELLING FOLKS WE'RE AROUND BACK, BUT IT'S ALMOST A SORT OF 'YOU GOTTA KNOW, 'BOUT IT.' SORT OF THING... Smaller Space...
-a Hot act will sell the venue very quickly, but it's a nice garden setting.. they have heaters going, but I'd also bring a coat if you're not a big hairy NewYorker...
Ashtree Studios:
(again, smaller performance space, nice accoustics, intimate setting just down the street from Twr. Theatre, (just past the big bend in the road, --think Wishon has become Fulton at this point... has folks like Kein Lim playing there.
Dianna's Dance Studios N.:
(good sized venue, very large dance space turned performance space, just after the weird stopsign by the canal...(on Fulton.)
Dianna's Dance Studios S.:
(in the next block below Dance Studio N. same side of street, (smaller sized dance space turned performance space.
NOW, THERE ARE BLACK 'SANDWICH BOARD,' TYPE BOARDS UP AT EACH VENUE... EACH OF THESE HAVE SYNCHRONIZED CLOCKS (NOT NUCULEAR, JUST DOLLA STORE,) THAT WILL SHOW YOU THE OFFICIAL TIME AT THAT VENUE... SOME OF THE SHOWS WILL NOT ADMIT LATECOMERS... AGAIN... DO A BIT OF SCOUTING AND KNOW WHEN THE SHOW YOU WANT TO SEE IS ROLLING... I'D HATE TO SEE FOLKS SHOW UP LATE AND NOT BE ABLE TO SEE THE SHOW THAT THEY WANT BECAUSE THEY'RE (AHEM...TARDY,)
ALSO: IT'S *NOT* LIKE A MOVIE THEATRE WHERE YOU CAN JUST 'WAIT ANOTHER TWO HOURS AND CATCH THE SAME PERFORMER IN THE SAME PLACE ON THE SAME NIGHT...'
(AN ARTIST MAY HAVE SEVERAL SHOWS (OR ONLY A COUPLE, DEPENDING ON HOW MANY EVENTS THEY RENTED FOR THEIR PERFORMANCES
----BUT THEY ARE ON DIFFERENT NIGHTS (SO, FOR EXAMPLE A GIVEN PERFORMER MAY BE ON 4 OR 5 TIMES, HYPOTHETICALLY, BUT WILL BE ON AT DIFERENT TIMES OF THE WEEK...)
Also: Weekend shows, (such as,,,, well Today: The shows start a bit earlier, (such as mid-afternoon in some cases...) -so you can really do a whole 8 to 10 hours of ROGUE... (dats a lotta rogue...)
I RECOMMEND GETTING A MAP/BOOKLET, OR CHECKING OUT THE ROGUE SITE ON THE WEB, (OR WHATEVER THE BEE HAS COOKING INFO WISE, SCOPING THE SHOWS, FIGURING WHERE YOU WANT TO GO AND THEN GETTING THERE ---ON TIME---
--The places that also sell food and drinks (such as Veni's,) also have waiter/waitress' serving in those spaces too... so you can actually, in the town of Fresno, in the safety of your own back yard have....
wait for it....
Dinner AND a Show...
(I personally saw lots of dating going on at my venue last night... it looks like a good idea... ---even showing up by yerself looked like fun, as the crowds were friendly and quite pleasant smelling...)
(hot dang...)
Is there
an online layout of the Festival?
Diablo
Okay.... this just in..
Having had an UNBELIEVABLE first night of the Rogue, (often they are kind of sleepy,)
---allow me to throw out these helpful things....
If you find Rogue Map/Books HANG ON TO THEM... (some folks run out quicker than others...)
--Be sure to read the UPDATES ---and check the website, (Mike Oz is doing a great link on other threads in terms of what's current and what is not.)
-IF YOU WANT TO CATCH THE SHORT FILMS AT JAVAWAVA... ACT FAST, GET THERE EARLY... THE PLACE WAS SOLD OUT COMPLETELY PACKED AT LEAST 15 TO 20 MINUTES BEFORE THIS EVENING'S SHOWS...
-The show 'Why Fresno Sucks and Kerman doesn't,' has been unfortunately pulled, (dunno why, I would have gotten a kick out of it.)
---A show that has been performed 'Charlie and the Chocolate Porn Factory,' ---in fact doesn't have porn in it, (not to ruin the surprise, -but don't let the title scare you away,,, I was at his gig tonight and the mans stories are way cool and very about coming up in Fresno (and 'Nam, courtesy of Uncle Sam circa late sixties.)
If you can DEFINITELY check out 'the Lily was a...' (one woman show, many are at Dianna's North.) ---very very intense and excellent program...
--Also??? the guys, er, ladies who do 'Rose and Clarice,' are extremely funny, (one of the best Drag performances I've seen since Benny Hill, Python, ---or vintage Top Fuel down at Atco... (okay, there are no cars, -but you will be impressed nonetheless.)
-Ananka.... Jessica Rabbit... Trust me on this.
-Again, a lot of the shows tend to sell fast, so get there early, ---and if you miss a show, don't sweat it, ---a lot of the performers have multiple gigs further on in the week, (check the Black Bulliten Boards, -and work with your map/booklet to show you what else is going on... there's something for everyone...
Finally...
Hey, give us a break... most of the shows range from three to five bucks...----(at the door? Singles are a real gem... (please don't bring anything larger than a twenty if you can help it... we Looooove Singles...)
More updates coming soon...
Rogue
I got mine the other day at Kern Street Coffee Co. They had a whole box.
Might see you there while I'm enjoying my waffle there tomorrow morning.
secret stash
you can also get them @ revue, and ashtree studios.
OH!
LOL! SORRY! Veni Vidi Vici had 'em yesterday when I indulged in an INCREADIBLE lunch...

PS: You are correct. Spleece = 'spliff' + 'peace'
PPS: 'center digit upstanding' = ROTFLMAO!!!
...and where did you find said book there bwanna???
c'mon... share with the rest of the class there, skippy... They may want some too...
(...I refuse to call you 'the sell out,' by the way...
to me that is just toooo wrong, even in jest...
you're too fine and upstanding (and centre digit upstanding sometimes,)
omnivore to be called a 'sell out...' ...besides...
Who am I going to tell myself little chuckles over when I read 'Spleece,' and used to silently mutter 'Spliff,'
and be reminded of my,,, um, 'greener,' days back in artschool...
(I am not kidding...everytime I'd see you type in, automatically the jukebox in my head would start 'Three Little Birds,' or 'One Love-Lets Get Together.'
C'mon man, it's not right... it's like one of the X-Men naming himself 'Leonard' or something. ...I just miss the old tag, that's all I'm saying...
(..no disrespect to the Leonards out there...)
I picked one up...
...yesterday. Actually, I picked TWO of them up: very impressive. Big ups to everyone who is working so hard to put this on in Fresno!
