Theft at Starline! Rademacher instruments stolen. Shame.

I'm posting this in hopes that maybe one of you might happen upon a pawn shop...or a shady dude that has our instruments.

Last night (Tuesday, March 6th) at Starline in the Tower District, someone stole my guitar and case, greer's bass and case, and our Korg Electribe keyboard/synth.

We had our gear stashed in the back hallway as per usual...and right before we were about to take the stage, we noticed that half our gear was gone!

Sucky in and of itself, right? right. Add to the fact that we leave for tour in 3 days, and you've got yourself a gigantic crap sandwhich. We've been eating this sandwhich since yesterday, and it just keeps on tasting worse.

Here are the descriptions of the gear:

1 Les Paul Epiphone guitar. Black body with no pick guard.

1 Gibson Case fit for an Epiphone (hard case)

1 Chromatic Tuner made by Boss

1 Fender Squire Precision Bass. Blue body with cracked white pick guard.

1 Fender Bass case (hard case)

1 Korg Electribe (ESX1 i think?) red/white with a tube window.

I know the odds aren't great that these will be found...but man.

We're still going to hit the road...somehow some way...so please come out to our fundraiser Friday at Tokyo Garden...we need your support doubly so now.

Here's the flyer for that show:

Thanks everyone.

The thing about Fresno music.

This is the kind of thing i try and explain to folks when i'm asked about the fresno music scene. The local support is amazing. From people offering to loan instruments...inflict bodily harm on the evil do'ers...to a fundraiser donation...the community is top notch.

Thanks everyone...and please do come tonight...We're selling a limited number of singles from our new LP due out this summer. The single is called "If You Got Some Magic," and there are 4 other songs from various members of Rademacher, and their solo projects.

So...incentives...incentives...please come.

go see the show

don't let the terrorists, errr, thieves win. go see rademacher for only $5 tonight. help them not only afford gas for the roadtrip, but also replace their gear.

shoot, be generous and break them off a $20. it's a few less drinks, but tommy & toshi will understand. send our favorite lads + greer off to sxsw.

yes, the thieves...

should be the focus. it just bothered me that this could have been prevented with a little amount of effort and care.

i hope someone finds those "vultures" and rings their worthless necks.

Get Middle East

and start cutting hands off. Bet people would think twice if that were the case...

Let's not forget.....

......who the REAL enemy is here.

While it's true a) that a back door security person WOULD be great, and b) getting someone from your crew to handle this job is a great alternative to having NO back door security.....the bottom line is that SOMEONE MADE OFF WITH A LOT OF FREAKIN EQUIPMENT.

Who ARE these vultures that would hang around a venue to look for an opportunity to snake a band's entire RIG? Even despite the fact that "no one saw anything" it still makes my blood boil that someone chose to spend their evening STEALING.

I HATE learning "the hard lesson." Especially in my own hometown. I wish there were a way to REALLY teach theives a lesson.

Modesto...

Greg, do you mind emailing me about your club in Modesto? Which club is it? What's up with booking there?

understood

i understand that bands are responsible for their things, but it seems to me that a club should secure or at least provide a safe place for bands to store their gear. at the club i book at up in modesto, there is ALWAYS a backdoor person provided with or without "prior arrangements" or rider provisions made AND a locked gate. from the posts in this thread it seems that the starline has had a chronic problem with gear being stolen and might want to consider addressing the problem at least out of concern for the people who play shows there.

i guess the simple cost-free and easiest solution is that they should post a hand-written sign in the hall that says "leave your stuff here at your own risk. things left in this area tend to go missing, often."

gregwords's picture

Being responsible....

Starline has never provided a back door person for any event I have ever done there, and suggested to me years ago to provide my own back door person, which I always do. Things still have turned up missing after shows. It happens.

Futhermore, NO venue I have done a show at inside or outside Fresno has ever provided a back door man without prior arrangements made by me. It's simple (and usually written in the rider for most contracts): you are responsible for your own stuff, not the club.

bastards

first of all, what the fuck is wrong with people? no one saw anything? that's bullshit.

and no back door person? the starline should provide one. people who play there shouldn't have to "hire" their own guy to watch their shit. i mean that, or lock the god-damned back door. sounds like this isn't first time something like this has happened.

hey starline! figure that shit out.

i mean, you are a venue for pete's sake! it seems like you should or would take a bit more pride in your establishment and its reputation as a good, safe place to play and run a tighter ship, taking care of the artists that provide the entertainment that bring people into your place of business.

good luck, guys. hope your things find their way back home.

Stolen S**t

Stormwysper took the words out of my mouth. The worst part is that whomever did this may have actually been at the show.

It makes me SICK that these jerk-offs will have no clue what to do with a Korg Electribe, or the bass/guitar for that matter. Even if they DO catch these guys, there's such little consequence it's pathetic.

i hit up every pawn shop in town lookng for my video camera to no avail. I gotta give you props for continuing on.....my own experience totally killed my faith in people and society (with the exception of all you Famous-heads!!)

FrankD's picture

People suck

Fucking people have to ruin it for everyone else. I hope you guys get your stuff back.

Someone watching your stuff in the back is a good idea, I'm sure you can find someone. Hell if not I'll do it.

Stormwysper's picture

that is a really really good

that is a really really good idea.

BTW...

Hire YOUR OWN back door guy...

Not the first time...

...stuff has come up missing after a Starline show.

You gotta watch your stuff CLOSE there, as it's really easy for someone to just walk in and out that back door. I can attest that many reggae bands on tour have had personal and rental stuff stolen from that hallway.

Sorry 'bout your loss: seems to be a week for it, as a good 1/8th (about 3,000 LPs & 45's) of my record collection was under water just a few days ago...

Daddy Spleece's picture

not good

I will be there to support you guys. It's hard enough monetarily to make it as a musician. Then, to have your stuff stolen, I can't imagine. Don't let this stop you, I'm sure there are enough people behind you to make this work. God Bless.

unFREAKINbelievable

I feel you pain Brad. While parked at Fresno State a little more than a month ago, I had my brand new video camera stolen. This is complete and total bull$**t.
I came on here to remind everyone that Rademacher was coming on my show Friday at 6:30.....and this totally blew me away. The only consolation I ever have is that these theives will screw up ONE DAY, get caught and end up in the neverending cycle of the system. Not that they'll feel remorse or regret....but at least WE will enjoy a life that is NOT behind bars.

FrankD's picture

...wow...

..Considering that this theft just took place last night?

I'm a little surprised that NOBODY said anything this evening during the Starline Rogue shows... (I just did door for them from 6 to 11p. including the last one before the 'open mic,' show at 11.

The guy running sound this evening came out at one point and said:
'...you're not going to believe this, but someone just came in the back door, and walked across the stage to go use the bathroom...'
(..and this was during a performance.)

I don't recall anyone being told (nor mentioning,) Rademacher's stuff being stolen last night...

(They were pretty tight to make sure that a kid did not leave with a hi-hat (from last nights show,) until they were sure from the manager that it really belonged to him, though.)

Sorry this happened, I think you guys are a great band, and sincerely hope that it does not screw up SxSw for you.

Out of the Void's picture

Clearly. Maybe something

Clearly. Maybe something like genocide or a natural disaster!

sosasosad's picture

Totally weak man

Hope you find your stuff. Liars, cheats and stealers,,,,can't stand'em. Like deeply can't stand them. They are the reason you have to do things like read between the lines.

Good luck bro

Let it be known I was

Let it be known I was lurking because one of you had my wallet! And yes, clearly something wonderful will come from this. Clearly.
