McEwen takes on Montecore

Bill McEwen takes former Montecore bassist member Scott Moore for bashing Fresno's strong mayor form of government in the Portland Mercury. Although the council is technically to blame for sprawl as McEwen points out, what's Autry done to try to convince them otherwise? The man does have veto power after all.

True, but Autry can veto

True, but Autry can veto budget items that can direct growth in other parts of the city, like he did recently with the downtown property-based improvement district item. For a Mayor that is so pro-downtown I'd like to see him use his influence to support growth in neglected parts of the city, not hinder it.

The strong mayor of Fresno has no veto over planning decisions made by the City Council.

Except, with Burnett on his way up here, it'd be just as easy to bring you and Bill up to Portland for a show.
