I was out of town for the first weekend of the Rogue and then sat on my arse and rationalized for the next week about why I couldn't attend any performances, so Saturday my wife and I decided to spend the afternoon and evening in the Tower. Boy howdy, am I glad we did. Took in a great show with Poplord in the early afternoon. What great music and harmonies from Stan and Tom. Excellent duo. Had a nice chat with Blake Jones as well. Thanks for the tip on that Cooder album, Blake. Retired to Livingstone's for some libation and then walked up to Spinners and was surprised to see Gary Edwards selling his wares on the street. Ended up buying a copy of "Tropic of Cancer" among other things and shared some good conversation about Henry Miller, John Updike and Thomas Hardy. Swept into Spinner's and had a chat with Don and wound up purchasing a copy of the Stills-Young Band album ("Long May You Run" what a great song). Headed over to the Starline where we took in "Jesus in Montana" with Barry Smith. Hilarious and poignant. Then wound up the day with Karen Marguth & One Hot Jazz Combo. Wow. Hot doesn't begin to describe that group. Beautiful performance and incredible solos from Rich Severson, Armen Nalbandian, Kevin Hill and Gary Numark (sorry for ny spelling issues...I'm writing this one and not resaeraching). Aquick bite at Stone's afterwards and then onto dreamland. It doesn't get much better than that. What a place! What a festival! Thanks to all.
