Central Valley Children's Services network's Annual Sunshine Day is part of the nationally recognized Week of the Young Child celebration. This year, the Week of the Young Child (WOYC) is April 22-28, 2007 and the theme is 'Building Better Futures for All Children.' WOYC is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The purpose of WOYC is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. NAEYC first established the WOYC in 1971, recognizing that the early childhood years (birth through age 8) are the foundation for children's success in school and later life.

Entertainment is provided by Break the Barriers, magician Ken Berryhill, Hula Ohana, Polynesian Club of Fresno, Mariachi Children's Group, Children Poets, Fresno City College's Grupo Folklorico, and many others throughout the day.
