Famous Spring Scrimmage

I'm posting a blog about this past Saturday's Fresno State football spring scrimmage, but before I do that...
Fresno Famous has always been light on Valley sports. I get it. There are plenty of places to talk about Grizzlies and Bulldogs. Famous is about Fresno's culture and neighborhood scenes. Discussions about the Fresno Falcons top forward might not be appropriate here.
But sometimes 'Famous can forget that sports is a big part of Fresno's culture.
Somebody that's been to Art-Hop but never to a Fresno State Football tailgate, is missing some true Fresno culture. Just like FSU Guy that's never been to a Rogue Festival or a Yoshi NOW flea market.
...I've said my piece, now back to the original blog, already in progress:
Nobody debates who should be the starting left-tackle or cornerback, they debate about the starting quarterback. There was plenty of Brandstater vs. Colburn debating going on at the Fresno State spring scrimmage game Saturday.
Dorktown was there to check it out and take some brief video. The REAL debate became, which quarterback is better at signing his autograph. You decide:
Lonyea Miller
He was very impressive. I think we can expect great things from him. Vanilla offense seams to be our trademark thru out the season. Hope Brandstater can pick it up a notch this year.

I was Smack in the Sun
I sat in the red seats in the sun. I felt if the players can run around in the sun, I can at least sit in the sun. A couple bottles of water and sun screen and it was no too bad.
I did like Norton as well. His last play for the Bulldogs sealed it for him: a wild desperation pass with a blitz coming that ended up in a linebackers arms, only to have him luckily drop it. I never saw him on the field again as he had mono that wiped out the rest of the season.
It was hard to judge the offense solely on that scrimmage as they are not going to put in more intricate plays that the opponents would love to see earlier then in the fall. It was strictly vanilla plays.

Unfortunately I didn't get to the scrimmage, but would've loved to have been there, so thanks for the video!
I'm curious to see how Brandstater will take the heat this season. Am I the only who thinks Hill was stupid for letting Norton go?

'Press'- While we did have a shaded tailgating spot, we did sit dead center in the red seats so we could soak-up all of that blazing summer-in-the-springtime-goodness like true Fresnan dumbshits.
I think Brandstater will take it too, but probably not because he's the most talented, just because he seems to be coach's boy.

I think Brandsater will take it, although both were equally mediocre on Sat. Were you guys sitting down front in the sun or were you a chicken like me and sitting in the shade. I love Bulldog football, but I wont sit in the blazing sun to watch a practice.
I went to the Scrimmage
I went to the Spring Scrimmage Saturday afternoon. Other then being a hot day ( around 95 or so) it was a lot of fun. I got to sit in way better seats then I have for the regular season and it was fun going on the field afterwards and talking to some of the players. They are a lot bigger on the field then they appears in the stands! The scrimmage made it hard to decide who to root for as the offense and defense were both Fresno State players. The cheerleaders were yelling "Go Dogs!" but which ones? I hope to go to next year's game.
